The Netherlands is Europe's hosting heartland
A huge share of European Minecraft servers physically run in Dutch datacenters — Amsterdam's AMS-IX makes NL bandwidth cheap and fast, so budget hosts cluster there. That means two kinds of readers land on this page: players and owners in the Netherlands, and server owners anywhere whose host is Dutch. The answer is the same for both: put a Minecraft-aware filter in front of the box, and stop publishing its IP.
If you're on the other side of the counter — you run a host in NL and your customers keep getting hit — there's a dedicated white-label track for hosting companies: Enterprise plans with your branding, SSO and dedicated locations.
Latency: the honest numbers
Players on KPN, Ziggo and Odido enter Cloudflare's anycast edge in Amsterdam, then ride the private backbone to Frankfurt (FRA), the nearest of our 7 dedicated PoPs. Amsterdam–Frankfurt is one of the shortest, fattest fiber routes in Europe.
| Nearest PoP | Frankfurt (FRA) |
| Typical latency | 8–15 ms for players in the Netherlands |
| Anycast entry | Amsterdam (Cloudflare) |
| Plans from | $0 — pricing |
What the pipeline stops
- Layer-4 floods die at Cloudflare's 500+ Tbps anycast edge — they never cross the North Sea, let alone reach your rack.
- Protocol-valid bot floods — the attacks Dutch hosts null-route customers over — are parsed by Cryo at FRA and, under pressure, funneled through CryoLimbo's captcha-and-behavior gauntlet.
- Proxy and datacenter IPs get flagged, challenged or blocked by AntiVPN before they inflate your player count.
- Compromised accounts are kicked by stolen-account detection on Essential and above, with a 2,000-name whitelist for false positives.
Five-minute setup, one DNS record
Register, add your backend (say `198.51.100.24:25565`), and CNAME `play.yourdomain.com` to your edge endpoint — or use an SRV record for a custom port. Running Velocity in front of your network? Enable PROXY protocol with `haproxy-protocol = true` (guide). The whole thing costs $0 to try on the free plan.
Common questions
Why is latency from the Netherlands so low without a Dutch PoP?+
Amsterdam hosts one of Europe's largest internet exchanges, and Cloudflare's anycast edge is present there. Dutch players connect locally, then their traffic rides Cloudflare's private backbone the short distance to Frankfurt (FRA) — around 8–15 ms total added latency, often indistinguishable from a direct connection.
My server is hosted in the Netherlands. Does Arvoris work in front of it?+
Yes — that's the most common Dutch setup. Whether your backend is a VPS in Amsterdam, a dedicated server in Rotterdam or a Pterodactyl node anywhere in NL, you set its IP:port as the backend and point one DNS record at your Arvoris endpoint. Nothing about your hosting changes.
I run a Minecraft hosting company in NL. Can I resell this?+
Yes. The Enterprise tier includes white-label protection, SSO and dedicated locations, built for hosts who want to sell Minecraft-aware DDoS protection under their own brand. See the host DDoS protection page for the full track.
What does it cost to start?+
Free: $0 for up to 15 players, 1 backend, the full mitigation pipeline and real player IPs. Budget is $10/mo (60 players), Essential $25/mo (150 players), Value $40/mo (500 players, geo-steering load balancing). Enterprise is custom-priced.
Do players on KPN, Ziggo or Odido see different ping?+
Barely. All three peer with Cloudflare in Amsterdam, so the first hop is a handful of milliseconds regardless of ISP. The 8–15 ms range covers essentially all Dutch consumer connections on fiber or cable.
Does my backend see real player IPs?+
Yes, on every plan including Free. PROXY protocol forwards the true client address, so bans, whitelists and analytics plugins behave exactly as they did before.
