10–20 ms: closer than it looks on the map
France sits next door to Arvoris' European filtering hub. A player on Free in Lyon or Orange in Nantes enters Cloudflare's anycast network at Paris or Marseille, and the connection reaches the Frankfurt (FRA) PoP over Cloudflare's private backbone — no public-internet detour, no congested peering. Total round trip is typically 10–20 ms, which most players simply read as their normal ping.

The OVH question, answered properly
A huge share of the French scene — one of Europe's biggest, with its own launchers, YouTube networks and long-running PvP communities — hosts on OVH dedicated servers or VPSes. OVH's bundled anti-DDoS is real, but it's generic Layer-4 filtering: it blunts volumetric floods and does nothing about join floods and bot waves speaking valid Minecraft protocol, which is how French servers actually get taken down. Arvoris layers on exactly that missing piece. Your OVH box becomes a backend, its IP stops being public, and Cryo inspects every connection at the protocol level before it reaches Frankfurt's exit.
- Point, don't move — add `192.0.2.10:25565` (your OVH allocation) as the backend; the server itself doesn't change hosts, panels or configs.
- Hide the IP — your domain resolves to the Arvoris edge, so booters aimed at your old address hit 500+ Tbps of anycast absorption instead of your box.
- Keep real IPs — enable PROXY protocol on your proxy (Velocity or BungeeCord); as a bonus, direct connections that bypass Arvoris get rejected, closing the bypass hole.
- Add what OVH can't — antibot verification via CryoLimbo's captcha-and-behavior gauntlet, plus AntiVPN classification of proxy and datacenter IPs.
Scale headroom, in case you need it
The pipeline in front of your OVH box is the same one that has mitigated a 7.15 Tbps volumetric flood and a 50-million-connection Layer-7 attack — several orders of magnitude beyond any rented booter. And if your network outgrows France, geo-steering across all 7 PoPs (see the locations page) routes Québécois players through New York and Réunion or Southeast-Asian players through Singapore without any config on your side.
Five minutes, one DNS record
Create a free account, add your backend, verify your domain, and set a CNAME (or SRV for custom ports) on `play.yourdomain.com`. The free plan — 15 players, full pipeline, real IPs — is a permanent tier, so you can benchmark the 10–20 ms claim from your own connection before paying anything.
Common questions
I host at OVH — can Arvoris sit in front of my OVH server?+
Yes, and it's a common setup for French networks. Your OVH box's IP and port become the backend in the Arvoris panel; players connect to your domain, which points at the Arvoris edge. OVH's own Layer-4 filtering keeps doing whatever it does underneath — Arvoris adds the Minecraft-aware Layer-7 filtering, antibot and AntiVPN that generic anti-DDoS doesn't attempt.
What latency do French players see?+
Typically 10–20 ms round trip. Orange, Free and SFR all hand traffic to Cloudflare's edge inside France — Paris or Marseille — and the short hop to Frankfurt travels Cloudflare's private backbone. France is close enough to FRA that protected and unprotected pings are often indistinguishable in-game.
Why doesn't Arvoris just put a PoP in Paris?+
Because the entry point already is in Paris. With anycast across 330+ Cloudflare cities, players always get a local first hop; the 7 dedicated PoPs (New York, Miami, Frankfurt, Warsaw, Tel Aviv, Singapore, Tokyo) are filtering hubs reached over a private backbone. At 10–20 ms total from France, an in-country PoP would shave single-digit milliseconds at best.
Do I keep real player IPs for my bans and plugins?+
Yes — PROXY protocol delivers the true client address to your backend on every plan, including Free. If you run Velocity or BungeeCord on your OVH box, enabling it is one config line; there are step-by-step guides for both.
How much does it cost for a small French server?+
Nothing to start: Free covers 15 players and 1 backend with the full pipeline. Budget is $10/mo for 60 players, Essential $25/mo for 150 with the complete verification gauntlet, and Value $40/mo for 500 players with geo-steering load balancing across up to 10 backends.
